Wayne Savage

wayne savage

November 11, 1945 ~ September 18, 2022

Born in: Colerain, NC
Resided in: Arden, NC

Wayne Thomas Savage, 76, of Arden went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at his home. Born on November 11, 1945 in Colerain, NC to the late Leslie and Ruth Claire Savage, Wayne was a dedicated husband and father. Patty Savage, his wife of 37 years, preceded him in death.

Wayne retired from Bell South after 40 years of service and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan – GO BRAVES! And when football season started he spent most fall weekends with his kids, drinking beer and watching whatever game happened to be on. Wayne made friends wherever he went and never met a stranger. Optimistic, openhearted, and ready to help at a moment’s notice, his family remembers him as their “go-to” person. Handy with tools and always with a joke, even a crisis was lightened by his presence. And he had more hats than any one man needs.

A talented guy who knew how to have fun, Wayne loved to bowl and enjoyed playing pool. He was musical and played both the guitar and the piano. He built televisions and was planning to build a ukulele with his grandson. He had recently purchased the supplies to begin creating art. There was so much more for him to enjoy and his children and grandchildren will miss him every day.

He is survived by his four children; John Savage (Lisa), Laura Savage, David Savage (Natasha), and Debbie Wilbanks (Scott). He was the best grandpa to JT, Iyanna, Mayah, Luke, Griffin, Margaret, Abby, and MaryBeth.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 24 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian in Arden. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00am. The funeral service will begin at 11:00am.

Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hendersonville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
