Wayne Darrell Suddreth, 79, of Candler, died Thursday, January 28, 2016, at the John F. Keever Solace Center. A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late Burley and Mamie Setzer Suddreth. He was also preceded in death by sisters Helen Black, Mabel Reynolds, Annie O'Kelley, Alma Lindsey, Onnie O'Kelly, and Glenna McCoy, and brothers B.A. and Lane Suddreth. Mr. Suddreth was a past president of the Upper Hominy Valley Lions Club. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent. He loved woodworking, hunting and fishing. Surviving are his wife, Nancy McElrath Suddreth; daughters, Becky Rogers and husband Ricky, Susan Grindstaff and husband Keith, and Julie Anson and husband Scott; grandchildren, Cale Rogers (Cassie), Vince Rogers (Michelle), Lydia Rogers, Colton Halford (Amanda), Eric Halford (Melinda), Brittany Grindstaff (Jeremy), Chrissy Grindstaff, David Anson (Nikki), and Jake Anson; and great-grandchildren, Becca, Lily, Heath, Jack, Lorelai, Rylee, Melia, Alexus, and Gunner. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Ave. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. His family will receive from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. The family expresses special thanks to Brittany and Chrissy Grindstaff for their attentive care giving.

  3. We are so sorry for your loss. We are out of town with Dr. Appts or we would be there. We love you all and Wayne and Nancy have been such an important part of everyone’s lives. My daughter Cassie was welcomed into this family with open arms. Both my daughters and myself will always remember Wayne with a smile, and what a wonderful Christian man he was. He is with God now and can see and feel no pain. We will all see him soon. We are praying for you all for comfort, and for God to help our sweet grandbabies,and Cale and Cassie, Vince and Michelle, Nancy, Becky & Ricky, Susan, and just all the family feel comfort in knowing he is with God.
