Wendell Joseph Whaley

Wendell Joseph "Joe" Whaley passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the Elizabeth House in Hendersonville. Wendell was born in Peace Dale, Rhode Island to the late Arthur Francis Whaley and Helen Holland Whaley. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and Army, serving in WWII and Korean War, retiring as a major from the Army reserves. Wendell loved playing the guitar and was a passionate motorcycle enthusiast. He retired from G.E. Corp. in Hendersonville as the Strategic Business Planner. He also was a charter member of the Alpha Delta Sigma, the National Professional Advertising Fraternity For Men. Wendell "Joe" is survived by his wife, Rita Helton Whaley; two sons, Paul W. Whaley and Kevin W. Whaley; one granddaughter, Kathryn Whaley and one sister, Carolyn Donahue. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family. A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Rhode Island.
