Asheville ~ Wilburn A. Bostic, Jr., 92, of 8-C Wesley Drive, died Friday, December 8, 2000 at his residence.

A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Wilburn A. Bostic, Sr., and Cruser Roberts Bostic. He was a descendant of Samuel Davidson, pioneer settler of western North Carolina. Mr. Bostic was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Anne Sigmon.

Mr. Bostic graduated from Asheville-Biltmore (UNCA) College and retired from the City of Asheville after 42 years of service. He was a member of Biltmore United Methodist Church where he was a Lay Leader of the Methodist Men. He was past President of the Golden Kiwanis, Member and past President of I.A.T.S.E. Local #278, served on the Biltmore School Committee, a volunteer for the Blue Ridge Mental Health and had received the Samuel A. Greely Service Award in 1968.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth W. Bostic; two daughters, Mary Bostic Sigmon of Charlotte and Virginia Bostic Sudderth, and her husband, Bill of Asheville; five grandchildren, Pamela Sigmon Shuey, Debra Sigmon, Susan Sigmon Coughlin, Jeffrey Sudderth and Cynthia Sudderth Reeves and two great-grandchildren, Barrett Reeves and Hunter Reeves.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, December 11, 2000 at Biltmore United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ashley Crowder-Stanley officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Episcopal Churchyard.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian.

Pallbearers will be William P. Sudderth, Gary Shuey, Jeffrey Stuart Sudderth, Thomas R. Reeves, Jr., Sean Michael Coughlin, Ray McMinn, Joseph McMinn and James McMinn. Honorary pallbearers will be J.A. Williams, R.B. Williams, C.F. Williams, John T. Spake, Jeff Hartig, Morris Lance, James Clark and William Estes.

The Bostic family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. James McMillan, Sharon Chambers, Windy Franklin and the staff of Givens Estates.
