Willard Hayes Coxe

Willard Hayes Coxe, 82, of 3 Sweet Birch Drive, Alexander, died Monday, October 6, 2003, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Harley Bascomb and Mary Ramsey Coxe and was also preceded in death by his wife Pauline Parham Coxe. He was a retired truck driver for Citizens Oil Company, a US Army Veteran of WWII and a member of Haywood Street Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Anne Cox Hensley of Alexander; four sisters, Betty Riddle and Loni Ledbetter of Asheville and Rena Cantrel and Louise Ponder of Leicester; two brothers, Frank and Paul Coxe of Asheville and a grandson, Jeremy Ray Hensley of Alexander. Graveside services will be 11:00 am Friday at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 pm Thursday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
