Dr. Willard John Roberts, 68, formerly of Asheville, died Friday, December 7, 2001, in Corinth, MS.
Mr. Roberts was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late John W. and Gladys Medford Roberts. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Frances Coogan and a brother, Malvin Roberts.
He was a graduate of Asheville-Buncombe College, East Carolina University, and Appalachian State University and received his PhD from Mississipppi State University.
Surviving are two sisters, Florence Glisson of Corinth and Wanda Kilby of Waynesville, and two brothers, David Roberts of Black Mountain and Woodridge Roberts of Roanoke, VA.
Graveside services will be at 4:30 pm Sunday at White Rock Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Kilby officiating. Nephews will be pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 3 - 4 pm Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue and at other times will be at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Roy Kilby, 124 Timberlane Road, Waynesville.
Memorials may be made to White Rock Baptist Church Building Fund.
