William Arthur Merrill

Mills River ~ William Arthur Merrill 80, of the Mills River Community, died on Saturday, September 16, 2006. A native of Fletcher, Mr. Merrill was the son of the late William Lawrence Merrill and Lillie Young Merrill and was preceded in death by a nephew. He worked as an operating engineer with heavy equipment and was a member of the Union of Operating Engineers. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Crawford Merrill and a son, Nathan Merrill of both of Mills River; two sisters, Jane Merrill Davis and Ruth Merrill Herbaugh of Stephens City, VA area; three nieces and two nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road is in charge of arrangements and memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1131, Fairfax, VA 22038-1131.
