William Everette Edwards, Jr. “Billy,” age 63, passed away on June 24, 2021, after several years of declining health.

He was born in Asheville and lived there for all of his life except for the six years he spent in the U.S. Army in Georgia and Berlin, Germany. He graduated from Asheville High School.

He is the son of the late William E. Edwards, Sr. and Gladys Head Edwards.

He worked at several types of jobs beginning with helping his father in service stations, and then lumber finishing, janitorial work, construction, and finally as many factories moved away, fast foods and delivering newspapers.

He is survived by sisters, Doris Costner and Ruth Pritchard; brother, Edward Wilson; nephews, Anthony, Steven, Zachary, and John Peter Wilson; any many great-nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by brothers Emmett and John Wilson.

He will always be remembered by his love for animals and willingness to help anyone in need.

Many thanks to the staff of Laurels of Hendersonville and Four Seasons Hospice for their care.

Burial will be at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at the Western Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery in Black Mountain.

    So sorry for your loss. I remember Billy when we would visit your family. He always got stuck playing with me, but he never seemed mad at me for it. He was always so sweet and kind.
