William Clyde Embler

William Clyde Embler, 90, of 121 Cody Embler Road, Alexander, died
Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998 at his residence.
A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Rev.
Mitch Embler and Docia Griffin Embler and was husband of the late Flora
Mae Shelton Embler, who died in 1991.
He was a member of the Alexander Baptist Church where he formerly
taught the Men's Bible Class, was Sunday school superintendent and was
a Deacon. He was a retired cattle farmer.
He is survived by three daughters, Delphia Sluder of the home, Barbara
Rash of Leicester and Linda Hensley of Alexander; two sisters, Bernice
Marler of Asheville, Connie Poore of Enka; four brothers, Leroy, David,
J.C. and John Embler, all of Alexander; 3 grandchildren and 1 great-
grandchild.
Services will be held 11 am Wednesday in the Alexander Baptist Church
conducted by the Revs. Claude Surrett and Gerald Sprinkle. Interment will
be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm Tuesday at Groce
Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
