William Conrad Harrell

William "Bill" Conrad Harrell, 72, passed away Friday, February 13, 2015 at the John F. Keever Solace Center. Bill was born and raised in Asheville and attended Biltmore High School before entering the US Army where he served as a Combat Engineer for eight years. Bill spent a large part of his adult life in South Florida before returning to NC in the early 1990's to be near his children. He recently retired from Tyco Electronics. Throughout his life, Bill owned and enjoyed beautiful classic cars, built and flew his own ultralight aircraft, and was never too far from his Harley Davidson. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his brother, Richard Harrell; two children, Scott Harrell and wife Michelle of Fletcher and Wendi Wells and husband Drew of Asheville; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and his beloved pet "Kane". He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Conrad Harrell and Blanche Marie Jenkins Harrell. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2015, at Groce Funeral Home, 856 Tunnel Road, Asheville. A graveside service will be held Friday, July 10, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Jeff Dowdy will officiate.
