Fairview - William (Bill) David McGuinn, Sr., 83, of Fairview, died Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Universal Healthcare Center. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Claude Curtiss McGuinn and Ethel Shope McGuinn. He was an active member of Fletcher United Methodist Church. Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Davis McGuinn; one daughter, Ann Elizabeth Roberts of Fairview; three sons, Dr. William David McGuinn, Jr. and his wife, Dr. Katherine Bell-McGuinn, of Columbia, MD, Alan Davis McGuinn, AIA and his wife, Sally, of Fairview and Neil Patrick McGuinn, Sr. of Fairview; four sisters, Nancy Morris of Douglas, GA, Alice Peek of Batesburg, SC, Frances Arrowood of Asheville and Mary Jo McGuinn Ousterhaut of Mill Spring, NC; two brothers, Roy McGuinn and Charles McGuinn, both of Asheville; five grandchildren, Justin, Megan, Brittany, Patrick and Haley as well as numerous well-loved nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Fletcher United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Stephen Ray officiating. Interment will follow at Pattys Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, November 25, 2011 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to Fletcher United Methodist Church building fund, PO Box 205, Fletcher, NC 28732.

    I am sorry for your loss. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

    Bill was my supervisor at Stencel Aero Engineering starting in the mid 1960’s. I had a lot of admiration and respected for him.
