William Madison Rogers, 85, of Candler, died Wednesday, November 9, 2016. A native of Jackson Co., he was a son of the late John and Minnie Leppord Rogers. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Connor Rogers, sisters Hazel and Pearl, and brothers Clyde and Earl. Mr. Rogers retired from BASF. Surviving are his daughter, Blanche Rogers Waugh and husband Steve; grandchildren, Elizabeth Harri (Lee) and Laurrell Smith (James); great-grandchildren, Ace, Titus, and Sarah; sister Edna Curtis; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved friend Christine Medford. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at White Rock Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert Oliver officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to White Rock Baptist Church, 91 Medford Branch Rd., Candler, NC 28715. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

  1. William ‘Bill’ Rogers was by far, the best friend a person could ever have. He loved his family, his friends and his church, White Rock Baptist Church. He was always faithful to the cause of Christ until the end. Praise God for his legacy to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
