William “Bill” Robert Cobb, 55, of 513 Old Haw Creek Road, Asheville, died Thursday, January 9, 2003, at the VA Medical Center. Mr. Cobb was born in Borger, TX and served in the US Army as a rifleman during Viet Nam. He was a member of VFW Post #891 and Disabled Veterans Post #2. Survivors include his wife, Harriett “Vicki” Matthews Cobb; three daughters, Tammy Cobb; Jennie Dunn of Cleveland, AL and Grace Grider of Asheville and six grandchildren. Graveside services will be 10:00 am Monday at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Father Andy Lasko officiating. The Buncombe County Veterans Council will provide military honors. His family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery. Memorials may be made to VFW Post #891, 626 New Leicester Highway, Asheville, NC 28806.

    I am sorry for Billy’s death. He was my firstborn and loved dearly. I shall remember him with love as the young wonderful person he was prior to Vietnam. I am thankful he will no longer have to suffer. Bea
