William Thomas Taylor, Sr., 85, of Candler, died Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the Charles George VA Medical Center.
A native of Haywood Co. and resident of Buncombe Co. for the majority of his life, Mr. Taylor was a son of the late William Gordon Taylor and Bessie Collett Taylor. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Earl G. Taylor.
Mr. Taylor was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, retiring from service. He served in the Korean conflict aboard the USS Wisconsin.
Surviving are his wife, Roberta Parker Taylor; daughter, Kelly T. Graham (Scott); sons, William Thomas Taylor, Jr. (Sherri), and Daniel Aldon Taylor (April); grandchildren, Aaron, Joseph, Emily, and Alex Taylor, and Hunter Graham; sister, Betty Williams (Robert); and brother, Robert Taylor (Pat).
Graveside services for Mr. Taylor will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Pisgah View Memorial Park, with Rev. Carl Bishop officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Groce Funeral Home, prior to the service.

I was sorry to hear of Bill passing away, I served with him in the Seabees at Asheville det 1324. He was a good Seabee. He will be missed.

Sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. He was a good man. I’ve known him all my life. I know he will be sadly missed by all. He was good friends with my parents for many years and they loved him dearly. Many years of fun.
