William Wallace Alexander, 93, of Asheville, died on Friday, February 20, 2015, at his residence.
A native of Buncombe Co., Mr. Alexander was a son of the late Perry and Lilly Corn Alexander.
Mr. Alexander was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of VFW Post #891 in Asheville. Mr. Alexander enjoyed spending his time hunting and listening to bluegrass music.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Ruth Alexander; daughter, Linda Israel and husband Mike; sons, Jim Alexander and Mike Alexander; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Mr. Alexander will be on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. James Donati officiating.
Interment has been rescheduled due to the weather and will now take place at noon on Wednesday at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery with military honors provided by the North Carolina Honor Guard.
His family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
