Willie Mae Merrell Penland, 85, of 243 Starnes Cove Road, Candler, died Monday, September 30, 2002, at her home.
A native of Fairview, she was a daughter of the late J.H. and Estelle Searcy Merrell. She was an antique dealer along with her husband, Grover W. Penland, who died June 25, 2002.
Mrs. Penland is survived by a son, Johnny Penland and his wife Ann; two grandchildren, Kathy Buckner and her husband Mike and Beth Tuten and her husband Tommy; four great-grandchildren, John and Laura Buckner and Jared and Mary Tuten; five sisters, Louise Lyda, Gerry Duncan and her husband Bill, Freida Lytle and her husband Martin, Pat Stoll and her husband Charles, Judy Kilpatrick and her husband Robert; and two brothers, J.H. Merrell and his wife Betty and Richard Merrell and his wife Suzie.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at Oak Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Kim Higgins officiating.
Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
