Willie "W.B." Rogers, 75, of Clinton Avenue, Asheville, died Monday, October 28, 2013. A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of Eva Jackson Rogers Black. Mr. Rogers was retired from Southern Railway after 32 years of service, and later worked for 10 years for his son Ricky Rogers in the automobile industry. He is survived by his son, Ricky Rogers and wife, Becky, of Bent Creek; daughters, Aretha Fannon and Terry Rice, both of Candler; sister, Vava Jean Cannon of Candler; friend, Marty Sacchi and husband, Patrick, of Candler; and several grand and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Dykes officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

  1. Worked many years with WB and never had a cross word with him. He knew his job and did it well. Had many fun times at the Canton depot. A very good man to be around and to know.
