Woodrow Burnice Lipe
February 9, 1925 ~ October 23, 2000

A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Albert R. and Lethia Mae Moser Lipe and husband of the late Bonnie L. Darnell Lipe, who died in 1972. He was also preceded in death by a son, Bobby Lipe; a grandson; two sisters and four brothers.
Mr. Lipe was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and he retired from Magnavox in 1975.
He is survived by five children, Mary Jackson of Arden, Wilma Mashburn of Arden, Ralph Lipe of Hoopers Creek, James Lipe of Arden and Teresa Penland of Arden; seven sisters, Mary Lou Maynor of Easley, SC, Frances Lunsford of Weaverville, Betty Jones of Asheville, Elizabeth Reese of Asheville, Dixie Beachboard of Candler, Barbara Swann of Brevard and Maxine Hipps of Asheville; two brothers, Jack Lipe of Asheville and Jerry Lipe of Candler; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am Thursday in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Cecil Robinson.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Hudson, George Jackson, Jerry Murphy, Shane Cook, Randy Shipman and Paul West. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Penland and Michael Jackson.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road.
