Yvonne Marie Frye, 82, of Fairview, passed away on April 8, 2023. She was born in Takoma Park, MD, to the late Edwin Russell and Clara Degraw Russell. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Carol Russell Haynes.
Yvonne found pure love and joy in animals. She particularly loved horses, and in her younger years was known for her trick riding. In her later years, she could be found pulled over at a random horse field, feeding the horses with apples and carrots she kept with her “just in case.” She loved talking about horses, and telling stories of her horse adventures. And then there were her many many cats! She tended to adopt all the neighborhood cats, and it wouldn’t be unusual to see 10 to 20 cats roaming around her yard.
In 1958, she started talking to a cute young man while waiting in line the first day at college. Three years later, she obtained her Mrs. Ten months later, baby Greg joined the family. To this day, she claims he was the perfect child. She was very proud of him and his service to our country.
By profession, she was a school bus driver for 32 years. She never received a ticket or had an accident, assuring safe passage of the precious children entrusted to her. She was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and looked forward to bible study and worship. She prayed the best prayers and shared the best spiritual lessons.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Roger Frye; son, Greg Frye (Valorie); niece, Maureen Haynes Burrows (Robin); three grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and two cats.
