Our Childhood

  1. The Dumas Chicken House X Brevard Rd from Arcadia Dairy that Cecil, myself and neighbors played in when we were youngsters growing up. 20 years on returning from Vietnam I lived in it: carrying water and had a Slop Jar while teaching school at Haw CreeK. Cecil was always a great friend, neighbor and valued man. Cecil a great, respected leader on our football team. Cecil and I about 10 yrs old picked up some cigaret butts and got caught smoking them on the creek bank by Marie King when she came out of the creamery! Not good! We got caught playing in the alkali. Millicent grabbed us up and gave us a bath! We use to play tag on the vertical 50ft silage silo……wow did we go home smelling great. After milking we’d dam up the gutter drain and run and slide down it. One our most satisfying activities was sitting in the back of the old, gutted manure spreader dragging our feet through the fresh cow manure in the dairy barn holding corral……YeeHaw…..Love and appreciate You /Cecil! Pleasant thoughts the Arthur and Rhodes Families. Evelyn, My long time Friend……remember the good times.

  2. An Honor and Privilege to have been associated with the Arthur, Rhodes Families and all the Avery’s Creeker’s during the important years.
